  • Previously Logoff-Trojans (eg Win32-Shiotob) were rendered harmless with Install-Restore, but the Trojan file remained in an invisible folder on the hard disk. An accidental reactivation of the Trojan was very unlikely.
    To avoid being found by security software, Logoff-Trojans hide in memory while the user is logged on. Only when the user logs off, the Trojan writes itself back to disk. But this is now prevented during the restart after Install-Restore.
